Richard A. Geise, Ph.D.

Dr. Richard Geise is a professional medical physicist with twenty-seven years of experience. He received Masters degrees in Physics and Radiological Sciences from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in Biophysical Sciences from the University of Minnesota. He is certified in Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.

Dr. Geise has been a consultant for over a hundred medical facilities, physicians and medical industries. Although experienced in all areas of medical physics, his current activities are in the areas of medical imaging physics, radiation safety and dosimetry.

Dr. Geise is a Clinical Specialist and Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Minnesota where he teaches x-ray technology students, medical students, radiology residents and graduate students. He has acted as head of the Medical Physics section of the Radiology Department and Director of Graduate Studies of the Biophysical Sciences graduate program. He has contributed to over forty scholarly publications and given numerous presentations in national and international venues. He has reviewed articles for several professional journals and is Associate Editor of the journal RadioGraphics.

Dr. Geise has been active in several professional societies, serving on or chairing many committees, commissions and task groups. He has served several times on the Council of the American College of Radiology and on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs.
